Hanoi – Luang Prabang (Flight at 12:30) – Transfer (--/L/--)
Transfer without guide to the airport for your flight to Luang Prabang.
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by your local driver and transferred to your hotel.
Meals on your own. Overnight at a 3-star hotel or similar.
Luang Prabang – Kuang Si – Pak Ou – Guide & Driver (B/L/--)
After breakfast at the hotel, visit the lively and authentic Phousi Market, where you will discover a wide range of local products such as dried buffalo skin, local tea, saltpeter, chickens, vegetables, handmade textiles, and crafts from ethnic minorities.
Continue the day with an excursion to Kuang Si Falls, considered one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Laos. On the way, stop at several ethnic villages:
- Ban Ouay, a Hmong village
- Ban Ou, a Lao Loum village
- Ban Thapene, a Khmu village
At Kuang Si Falls, you can:
- Enjoy a refreshing swim in the turquoise natural pools
- Walk along shaded trails in the tropical forest
- Visit the nearby Bear Rescue Center (closes after 15:00), which shelters bears rescued from illegal wildlife trade
In the early afternoon, board a traditional boat for a cruise on the Mekong River to the famous sacred Pak Ou Caves, nestled at the foot of limestone cliffs. These caves house hundreds of Buddha statues placed by devotees over centuries. You will explore:
- Tham Ting (the lower cave), accessible from the river
- Tham Phum (the upper cave), deeper and more mystical
On the way back to Luang Prabang, stop at Ban Xang Hai village, known for its traditional rice alcohol production. Meals on your own. Overnight at a 3-star hotel or similar.
Luang Prabang – Hanoi (Flight at 19:15) – Guide & Driver (B/L/--)
After breakfast, visit Wat Xieng Thong, the iconic monastery of the “City of Gold,” considered one of the most beautiful temples in Laos. Admire its refined decorations, glittering mosaics, elegant stupas, and an impressive reclining Buddha typical of Lao art.
Continue exploring Luang Prabang, the former royal capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with a visit to Wat Visoun, one of the oldest temples in the city, dating back to the early 16th century. Nearby, visit Wat Aham and Wat Saen, considered the first monastery founded in the city. In the afternoon, discover Wat Mai, a remarkable example of traditional Luang Prabang architecture, featuring a wooden “sim” and a five-tiered roof typical of the local style. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Hanoi.
